Commissioner's Service The Commissioner's Service provides service in the following areas: Anti-Corruption BranchThe primary role of this branch is to investigate corruption and allegations of corruption across the whole public sector. The branch also provides advice to government departments and agencies if it identifies practices within those areas that may be open to fraud, corruption or misconduct. This branch works closely with SAPOL's Service Enhancement Branch to monitor and review internal performance. This action minimises the potential for corruption to occur within SAPOL. The Minister for Justice has appointed an Independent Auditor which conducts an audit at least once every six months and reports back to the Minister. The auditor examines every aspect of the work of the branch including operations, case management process and all other records. This independent scrutiny safeguards the public interest and ensures the branch is resolute in the pursuit of its charter to investigate and eliminate corruption with the public sector. Allegations of corruption against any government department should be reported to the Anti-Corruption Branch on (08) 7322 3023. Please be aware that all information received is treated as strictly confidential.Executive Support BranchExecutive Support Branch provides an integrated specialist support function to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Police. The members assist in the management of Executive information and correspondence. The Branch is also responsible for corporate reward and recognition programs and the ongoing management of papers and other information prepared for the government and stakeholder committees. Corporate Communication BranchCorporate Communication Branch provides a coordinated and strategic approach to all SAPOL internal and external communication, branding, marketing and advertising. Through a variety of contemporary and innovative communication mediums (including but not limited to television, print, radio, social media, publications, corporate displays, marketing and advertising), the Branch provides public affairs, public relations and media information to the community, external stakeholders and SAPOL staff. The Branch also responds to requests for assistance and information relating to public affairs. Key accountabilities include the establishment of media protocols, branding guidelines and sponsorship policy. To ensure SAPOL continues to be held in the highest regard as a modern and professional organisation it proactively seeks media and promotional opportunities that increase the free flow of information about matters such as general police matters of interest, crime prevention initiatives, critical public messages, emergency alerts and warnings. The Branch incorporates the Communication Programs Section, the Special Events Section and the Media Section. Communication Programs SectionCommunication Programs Section is accountable for establishing a strong, professional brand identity recognisable throughout all SAPOL communication initiatives. This is strengthened through the development and implementation of internal and external communication programs and campaigns which market and promote SAPOL in 'Keeping SA Safe'. The Section has oversight of all SAPOL publications, public affairs interests, training resources and corporate productions. Special Events SectionSpecial Events Section is responsible for the management of all SAPOL official functions such as: community events, ceremonies, medal parades, and the Corporate Calendar; and provides advice in relation to protocol matters concerning any police event or operation. Media SectionMedia Section manages the direction of SAPOL's community engagement. The Media Section is responsible for operational and corporate messaging to both traditional media and through SAPOL's dedicated news website www.sapolicenews.com.au and social media accounts. The Media Section team provide expertise in managing media affairs, responding to media enquiries and publishing information, organising media conferences and news facilities, and developing media strategies at a corporate and service area level. A progressive, modern and strategic approach is taken with media to advance SAPOL's reputation and expand the public's knowledge of our work and values. This includes proactively identifying opportunities to promote the successes of SAPOL staff and its operations. The Media Section plays a vital role within SAPOL, as the conduit between police operations and mainstream news outlets to ensure the community is informed in a timely manner.
