The LSA encompasses the Clare and Gilbert Valley, Copper Coast, the Mid North and the Yorke Peninsula and has two patrol bases located at Port Pirie and Kadina as well as 29 other police stations, 25 of which are either two or one person stations. These police stations are Ardrossan, Balaklava, Booleroo Centre, Brinkworth, Burra, Clare, Crystal Brook, Edithburgh, Eudunda, Gladstone, Hallett, Hamley Bridge, Jamestown, Maitland, Minlaton, Orroroo, Peterborough, Port Broughton, Port Germein, Port Victoria, Port Wakefield, Riverton, Snowtown, Spalding, Stansbury, Wirrabara and Yorketown. The LSA has a radius of 34,900 square kilometres.

The headquarters of the Yorke Mid North LSA is located at the Port Pirie Police Complex, 18 Main Road, Port Pirie. Services provided from this station include Criminal Justice, Crime Scene, Crime Prevention, Yorke Mid North CIB, Yorke Mid North Highway Patrol and Intelligence. An operational response, CIB and Criminal Justice services are provided from the Kadina Police Station.

Parts of the LSA including the Clare Valley, Flinders Ranges and Yorke Peninsula are some of South Australia's favourite holiday and tourist destinations due to camping, wineries, food, coastal views and recreation, especially fishing or just relaxing.

The LSA incorporates the local government areas of Barunga West, Clare and Gilbert Valleys, Copper Coast, Goyder, Orroroo Carrieton, Mount Remarkable, Northern Areas, Peterborough, Port Pirie, Wakefield and Yorke Peninsula. Within the 34,900 square kilometres of the LSA, members provide a customer focused service approach to more than 73,000 residents.
