Performance Management and Reporting Service

South Australia Police (SAPOL) recognises that managing performance is the key to continued organisational success. The Performance Management and Reporting Service is accountable for:

  • developing systems and processes to continuously improve corporate performance
  • maintaining ethical and professional standards
  • supporting training that promotes ethical behaviour
  • identifying, implementing and evaluating innovative practices
  • providing organisational focus on service delivery.

The service comprises:

Planning Policy and Review Branch

Planning Policy and Review Branch (PPRB) is responsible for:

  • the control and co-ordination of the preparation of SAPOL's Corporate Business Plan and Annual Report
  • the provision of policy advice to the Commissioner and other members of the Senior Executive Group
  • managing key corporate projects, implementations and evaluating the effectiveness of SAPOL programs.

Planning Policy and Review Branch also provides executive management information and facilitates Corporate and Service level performance reporting. The areas involved with PPRB include:

  • Planning and Reporting Section (including the Aboriginal and Multicultural Unit)
  • Business Information Section
  • Projects and Policy Section
  • Service Improvement Section

Ethical and Professional Standards Branch

SAPOL has a number of internal services highlighted below, that regulate the way we perform as an organisation:

Professional Conduct Section 

The objective of Professional Conduct Section (PCS) is to manage and oversee the disciplinary and criminal processes involving SAPOL employees and to provide advice or policy on ethical issues.

The Branch carries out adjudication and prosecution of criminal, disciplinary and other proceedings arising from investigations relating to allegations involving police officers and public sector management employees employed within SAPOL.

Internal Investigation Section

The Internal Investigation Branch (IIS) provides a state wide response to the requirements of the Police (Complaints and Disciplinary Proceedings) Act, 1985. It conducts internal investigations involving breaches of the Code of Conduct and also, when appropriate, oversees investigations of allegations relating to police misconduct or criminality. It can also inquire into other matters as directed by the Commissioner of Police.

Project Compass

Project Compass members undertake research and provide recommendations relative to future service delivery with a particular focus on performance management, leadership, problem solving, crime prevention and partnerships.  The project was established to ensure SAPOL maintains the momentum of previous reform programs.
