Police Rangers

The police rangers program involves young people between the ages of 12 and 18 working with adult volunteers and the police to:

  • develop qualities of leadership and adventure
  • recognise individual interests and abilities
  • learn about individual rights and responsibilities
  • learn about policing, law and the judicial system
  • understand the demands placed on police officers, and their duties and responsibilities
  • learn about making the community safer.

Police Rangers participate in many community promotional and adventure activities, for example:

  • fetes, family fun and gala days
  • police expo, station open days and police displays
  • community days and various festivals
  • Neighbourhood Watch displays and shopping centre displays.

For more information about Police Rangers contact the Community Programs Section at your local police station, or phone the South Australia Police Youth Programs Coordinator on (08) 8204 2234.
